e2v introduces a new 10 bit 3GSPS Digital to Analogue Converter, with up to 7GHz of output bandwidth and sub-50ps rise/fall time

Building on the success of its TS86101 10bit 1.2GSPS DAC, e2v has introduced the next generation 10 bit GSPS DAC EV10DS130A, designed for demanding Software Defined Microwave systems and arbitrary waveform generation with very sharp rise and fall times.

The EV10DS130A operates with a sampling speed of 3 GSPS and generates signals at microwave frequencies up to C-band. Applications operating in the first Nyquist zone will benefit from a very flat frequency response, while time-domain applications will benefit from a sub-50ps full-scale-rise/fall-time.

Even with its microwave capabilities, power consumption is noticeably low at 1.3W.

For performance optimisation from DC up to 7GHz, this DAC has 4 selectable modes, against the chosen Nyquist zone of operation: Return-to-Zero, Non-Return-to-Zero, Narrow-Return-to-Zero and RF Mode.

EV10DS130A is an all-European export licence free device. Its IP content is from e2v’s Grenoble, France facility and the silicon foundry technology employed is the B7HF200 process from Infineon in Regensburg, Germany.

“This DAC sets a new reference point for high speed 10 bit DACs. With an unprecedented output bandwidth in this category, ideal for Software Defined Microwave designs, the EV10DS130A delivers new levels of performance for Arbitrary Waveform Generators, Automated Test Equipment, DOCSIS data over cable systems, GPON systems and point-to-point microwave links.” said Nicolas Chantier, Product Marketing Manager for e2v’s Broadband data conversion product line.

The EV10DS130A is offered in a small footprint FpBGA 196 package (15 x 15 mm) with the choice of commercial temperature grade (0°C to +90°C) and industrial temperature grade      (-40°C to +110°C).

Datasheet, samples and quotations are now available from e2v and from e2v’s authorised resellers around the world.
