National Apprenticeship Awards 2017
On Tuesday 17 October, we attended the regional round of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2017, and were thrilled to be named the East of England’s Large Employer of the Year. Â This award recognises the quality and structure of our Apprenticeship schemes, which have recently gained IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) accreditation.
In addition, Matt Pike (Space Imaging, Chelmsford) was also awarded with the Regional Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year award for his outstanding accomplishments and contribution to the Company – this is a fantastic achievement, and very well deserved. On winning his award, Matt said:
‘I am delighted to have won this award and am humbled by the amount of talent and knowledge surrounding me during this process. I chose an Apprenticeship as I am a practical learner and prefer to see an application for the content I am learning realised rather than it just being theoretical. Throughout the duration of my Apprenticeship, my self-confidence has grown immeasurably – as well as learning how to communicate in a professional manner, I have been involved in some fascinating space projects. As of this year, I have taken on an additional role as an Apprentice Coordinator and I thoroughly look forward to continuing on a Higher Apprenticeship, being sponsored through to degree over the next five years.’
Over 800 regional applications from businesses and individual Apprentices were submitted to the NAS for consideration this year, and the fact that we won two awards is testament to the quality of our Apprenticeships and our Apprentices! Â Congratulations to everyone involved, and well done for all of the hard work that went in to the application submission.
