Health and Safety
The safety and wellbeing of our people in all aspects of our operations is critical to the success of our business and to the wider communities in which we operate.
We are now in the third year of our cultural HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) program called SHELT (Safety, Health, and Environment Leadership Team). Since the launch of SHELT, our incident reporting statistics have shown positive improvements, with proactive incidents (hazard spots) increasing from 69 in 2014 to 734 in 2016, and first aid incidents reducing from 162 in 2015 to 72 in 2016, which is a reduction of over 50%. In addition, lost time accidents have fallen by a third from 2014 to 2016.
To continue to drive the SHELT cultural program, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are in place and monitored across the business footprint. We have set a targeted compliance score of 75% for 2017, which is currently on target. To maintain a drive for HSE continuous improvement, this score will be increased to 90% for 2018.
We have a comprehensive Health and Safety management system in place, which has been accredited with the OHSAS 18001 standards at our Chelmsford, Lincoln and Grenoble manufacturing sites. The Teledyne EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Policy is displayed on the communications board at all our sites and is available on request.
